I have started planning a road trip for the California Coastline!! I am VERY excited. Most of the highlights will be on the beautiful beaches along the coast. I have never been to San Francisco or to all of the PCH and Hwy 1 that spreads out between San Diego and San Francisco. It will be a new experience in many ways and it will feel great to be traveling again!! I can't wait! The trip is planned for tentatively late August or during Septemeber. I will post my road map when it gets closer and share some of my favorite experiences along the way!

Also this summer! Bob Blair and Mary Smith are getting married on the Carnival Cruiseship Inspiration. We'll be on the ship for the wedding and then the whole family, along with myself, will be underway on the popular Catalina and Ensanada cruise. This will be mine and Cameron's first cruise together!

Cameron and I have had a lot of fun over the (almost seven!) years that we have been together. We have both expressed how much we love to travel and can't wait to fill our passports with stamps and visas together.

Though Cameron has beat me to many more countries, I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have had to travel, and look forward to a future with many more trips, volunteering abroad opportunities, and exploring new cities in which we will live. 2012 is shaping up to be a great year so far!! I feel so blessed.

What's the single best abs exercise?

While there’s no single-best abs exercise, crunches don’t work as well as most people think,” says John Romaniello, a strength coach and the owner of romanfitnesssystems.com. In fact, neither do leg lifts or Swiss ball situps. The reason: They don’t challenge your ability to stabilize your body weight against gravity. Exercises that force you to brace your spine and pelvis activate more muscle fibers than any type of crunching movement, which helps build the definition you desire, adds Romaniello. The most common stabilization exercise is the plank, where you position yourself in a pushup position, but place your weight on your forearms instead of your hands. Holding this position for 1 minute will work your abs more than you think (almost 66 percent more than crunches, according to research). But if you really want to carve your core, try reducing your stability by raising one arm, one leg—or both—and holding the plank position for 30 to 60 seconds. Just make sure you don’t allow your core to move or rotate (that’s cheating). While this will challenge your muscles, remember the old adage that abs are made in the kitchen. So it doesn’t matter how hard you train them if you don’t watch your diet.
